A distortion in both cognition and decision making due to positive and compassionate emotional factors. this results in the inclination to believe in something that has a positive emotional affect, even if there is contradictory evidence. Furthermore, someone that is perceived as similar cultivates sympathy and increases the likelihood of being helped.
