Providing sales representatives critical information at a quick glance.

Challenge

Getting product information for clients or prospective clients while out in the field was not available for Field Sales Representatives (FSR) unless they brought a laptop with them; even then, it was a grueling task. J&J reached out seeking an experience enabling FSR’s the ability to provide time-sensitive product information to customers regardless of where they are.

Approach

After generating insights from user research, we clarified the primary use cases, rapidly iterated on a user experience, and delivered a complete end-to-end prototype in just 4 weeks.

Focusing On The Core Views

As part of thinking about how to build the foundation, we offered core views to understand what level of detail was relevant for the FSR. This breakdown further helped create direction for deeper UX mapping.

Wiring Our Vision

The most substantive and iterative step in our process was wire-framing. We mapped out the entire experience to visualize details and layouts throughout app pages. This helped the product team and FSRs understand what experience was possible without full color and design.

Leveraging Mental Models

Mental Models are our deeply ingrained views of how the world works or doesn’t work. We use understandings from other contexts and apply them to new contexts.

We know that FSRs will be triaging their account and business from the mobile experience. A quick mental model that is accessible for most is traffic signals. The Red-Yellow-Green system (tied to color theory) implicitly signifies attention, caution, and proceed.

Designing a Clickable Prototype

Our design phase brought the wireframes to life by giving color and illustration wherever relevant. We also branded according to JnJ guidelines and reconciled for the design system. Lastly, we ensured accessibility through several design tweaks and fixes and connected the experience end-to-end.

Outcome

An end-to-end mobile experience that utilizes color and iconography to showcase important information at a quick glance and the ability to access detailed information whenever and wherever needed.
